Discover the 10 Rules of Recruiting that We Live By

Here are some principles that have been at the core of my professional evolution.

Ten recruiting rules to live by

1. Control the controllables

Focusing on things outside of your control is a waste of time and energy

2. Comparison is the thief of joy

Your life, journey and circumstances are unique. Do not compare yourself to others, live your own life to the fullest.

3. Don’t make a decision on something until you’ve given 110%

Don’t quit a job too quickly. Don’t hate on a sport right away. Don’t give up on the new city you moved to. Don’t break up when there’s an inconvenience. Before you decide something isn’t for you, ask yourself if you gave 110%. If you haven’t, you may end up with regrets down the line and unsure of what you want. You won’t know if something is not for you until you go all in.

4. Be Useful (Arnold Swartzeneger)

Not matter what your doing, be helpful. Your reputation will grow as will the opportunities that come with it. You will also develop skills quicker than your peers doing the bare minimum.

5. My Body is my Temple

The content you consume. The substances you consume. The food you consume. Your mind, body and soul should be your #1 investment.

6. Respect the Grind (Brendon Burchard)

The challenges you face can be a blessing in disguise. Learn from them. Grow from them. How you handle difficulties will build your character.

7. Hard Work beats Talent

I know Ivy League grads without jobs. I know multi-millionaires who dropped out of college. Talent can be a gift, but hard work will always win.

8. Don’t Start on Monday

START NOW! My pet peeve about New Years resolutions is people waste time waiting until the new year. If really a priority, there is no better time to start your goal then NOW.

9. Me vs Me

Your biggest rival is who you were the day before. Hold yourself accountable. Nobody is coming to save you. Be the best version of yourself and get it.

10. Show Up

It’s half the battle. Even if it’s not your day, consistency is key.
